In the XVth century the Market was held on Sundays at the square in front of St.Tryphon, making it difficult for liturgical rites to be practiced. It got banned soon by the Bishop of Kotor and never again happened on a Sunday.
The market changed its site during the centuries many times, but kept its good name and reputation with extraordinary fresh and authentic products.
In the early morning hours farmers and traders from the nearby villages, such as Dragalj, Njegus,, etc, set up their stands and prepare for the busy day ahead.
Resembling a small festival, the market in Kotor is well-known for its vegetables and fruits grown in the nearby Grblja, fish caught in the Bay of Kotor, olive oil from Bar and much more.
Following all pandemic regulations, the Market is working seamlesly, providing guests and habitants with exquisite and unique tastes and local specialties.
